World Health Day is celebrated in Belarus
Belarus has made significant progress in implementing evidence-based public health measures. This was noted by representatives of the World Health Organization. The country is actively using the results of studies conducted in 2016-2020 to develop measures to reduce non-communicable diseases. Additionally, the inclusion of vaccination against human papillomavirus in the National Immunization Schedule from 2025 onwards is a particularly important step.
The World Health Organization highly appreciates Belarus's intersectoral work, particularly its initiatives within the Healthy Cities and Towns programme. It brings together specialists from the fields of healthcare, education, urban planning, road safety, and sports, and promotes an environment where people can lead healthier lives. Consistent tobacco control policies have yielded notable results, with the prevalence of smoking among men decreasing from 49% to 42%.
