The B. Lavrenyov Drama Theatre of the Russia's Black Sea Fleet toured Brest
13.04.2026
Artists from Sevastopol presented one of the performances at the Brest Hero Fortress memorial complex. The choice of the venue was entirely justified: no sets were needed, and the semicircular brick walls created a wartime atmosphere. The idea behind the performance, "Storm", was to convey the troubling yet life-affirming atmosphere in the trenches on the eve of the crucial battle for Sapun Mountain. Its capture in 1944 predetermined the liberation of Sevastopol. The stage is minimalist, with no period-appropriate costumes. The text, specially created for the performance, combines the memories of front-line soldiers, quotes from Soviet war films, and excerpts from Mikhail Sholokhov's novel, "They Fought for Their Country".
