Forest cover in Belarus has reached its record level
26.05.2026
Forest
cover has reached a record high of 40.5% in recent decades. It's the result of a
tremendous amount of work, including community support through labor campaigns
and cleanup days. Currently, there is over 1 hectare of forest per capita in
Belarus. The total forest area is 9.8 mln hectares. The country's
"lungs" experience significant growth twice a year – in the fall and
spring, during large-scale plantings. Last year alone, reforestation was
completed on an area of 36.000 hectares, significantly exceeding the target.
