Award finds its hero

The Order of the Red Banner that had been found in Grodno was sent to Uzbekistan, to the homeland of the deceased hero. The award belonged to Lieutenant Shavkat Kariev, who was killed during the liberation of Belarus in 1944. The specialists had to do extensive resreach in the archives of Belarus and Russia. The name of the hero was established, but his relatives could not be found. Therefore, the award was handed over to representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan. The order will be kept in Tashkent in the memorial complex built in honor of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory.
