Thousands of kilometres through sites of military glory and memory. The "Hero Cities – Cities of Heroes" motor rally has been announced in Moscow, on the eve of the 85th anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War. This time it is dedicated to the "Roads of the People's Militia." Volunteer units of workers, students, scientists, artists, women and the elderly, many of whom had exemptions from conscription, were formed in the summer of 1941 to assist the Red Army in the defense of key cities. The Belarusian People's Militia primarily defended Minsk, Gomel and Mogilev. The "Roads of the People's Militia" motor rally route includes 24 regions of Russia and Belarus. The patriotic initiative launches at the end of June.
