Economy on upswing since year's start
Industry traditionally remains the main driver of the Belarusian economy. The volume of production over the past three months exceeded Br49 billion. In comparable prices it is +6.5% against the same period last year. Belarus has significantly increased the output of trucks and cars, buses, TV sets, nitrogen fertilizers, cement, confectionery, paints and varnishes. A good result was achieved in agriculture. A big increase was recorded in vegetables, eggs and milk production. Among the drivers of growth, along with industry and trade, was also construction with a rate of 104.3%. Sustainable positive dynamics is also recorded in the transportation sector: cargo turnover is growing. Export of goods over the two months exceeded 6 billion US dollars. This is +1.5% on the back of the growth of physical volumes. As for annual inflation, in March it remained at the level of 5.6%, i.e. within the forecast parameters. Positive dynamics in the economy is also reflected in the welfare of citizens. The real incomes are growing across the country. In January-February they amounted to 107.8% of the level of 2023.
