New three-volume Francysk Skaryna encyclopedia presented in Minsk

A new Francysk Skaryna encyclopedia has been presented in Belarus. Its author is the National Library"s deputy director Ales Susha who has been studying Skaryna"s heritage for a long time. The three volumes contain over 300 illustrations, many of which have been published for the first time. The author has studied Skaryna"s numerous books kept in libraries around the world and it is due to him that several books by the printing pioneer have returned to Belarus in electronic form.The new encyclopedia was published on the eve of the 500th anniversary of Belarusian book publishing to be celebrated next year. The event will be marked by the release of several colourful editions. A Russian-language book about the printing pioneer and a tome of images of Skaryna"s books are currently being prepared.
