Belarusis home to more than 9,000 libraries comprising of over 200 million books.
Belarusis celebrating Library Day. The holiday was established in 2001, and the date of 15 September was chosen in honour of the founding of the National Library. The idea of establishing the professional holiday was initiated by the Belarusian Library Association. The holiday is traditionally accompanied by meeting of library workers, exhibitions, round table discussions, conferences and campaigns.
Rare books dating back to the 17-18th centuries will be handed over to the National Library today. Currently,Belarusis home to more than 9,000 libraries comprising of over 200 million books.
