CONFLICT IN THE MIDDLE EAST The situation in the Middle East became the topic of conversation between the President of Belarus and the Iranian ambassador. Aleksandr Lukashenko held a meeting with the diplomat at the Palace of Independence. Minsk has always called and continues to call for the resolution of all disagreements through political and diplomatic means.
PEACEFUL SETTLEMENT On behalf of the President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko the Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov discussed the situation in the Middle East with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman. The Belarusian side expressed support for Oman's efforts to establish lasting peace in the region as well as for all of its mediation efforts.
RETURNING HOME The situation in the Middle East has had a significant impact on tourism industry. People have been stranded in the region, unable to return home. Belarus has promptly organized export flights. The national airline, Belavia, is transporting Belarusian tourists from the Middle East. The flights are following a safe route. Despite the long journey and waiting time, all Belarusians are returning home safely.
VITAL CONNECTION Belarusian telecom operators have decided to support subscribers who find themselves in the Middle East due to flight cancellations. Some subscribers have the cost of calls reset to zero in the United Arab Emirates, while others receive bonus Internet access and minutes. They also provide a free roaming package for mobile Internet in a number of countries. Each cellular company has its own terms and conditions.
TECHNOLOGICAL SOVEREIGNTY Union economic construction and military-political unity. In the context of sectional pressure and geopolitical instability Belarus and Russia are placing their stakes on industrial cooperation and the development of economic ties. The President of Belarus and the Governor of the Murmansk Oblast discussed the shift away from critical imports at the meeting in Minsk.
