TOP AWARDS By doing big things - in the economy, education, healthcare, culture - they serve the Fatherland and promote Belarus. Well-deserved awards to those who are famous for specific deeds on their professional path were presented at a reception on behalf of the President of Belarus. Among the invited guests were workers from various fields: artists, athletes, political scientists, senior officials and journalists- those who are at the forefront, protecting the state, strengthening sovereignty and building a creative course. 

BORDER PROTECTION The situation on the external circuit and ensuring the country's security on earth and in the sky are under the constant control of the President and Commander-in-Chief. Aleksandr Lukashenko has approved decisions on the protection of the state border. The President asked in detail about the situation on the borders of the country and the measures that may need to be taken this year. Special attention – to the western contour. 

LITHUANIAN CRISIS Lithuanian truckers are demanding compensation for losses caused by the forced downtime of Lithuanian trucks in Belarus, rather than shifting the problem to Minsk. They are threatening an indefinite protest if the Lithuanian government continues to do nothing about the trucks that were stranded in Belarus at the end of last year. The situation was caused by unilateral actions of the Lithuanian authorities, but Vilnius is in no hurry to address the consequences. 

JOINT PROJECTS The heads of government of Belarus and Russia discussed the implementation of joint projects and current issues of trade and economic cooperation in a telephone conversation. Aleksandr Turchin and Mikhail Mishustin placed particular emphasis on strengthening integration cooperation. The key event in the Union State calendar this year will be the 13th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia. The main venue for the event, held on 25 and 26 June, will be Minsk and Minsk Oblast. Last year, the countries signed contracts worth 900 million Belarusian rubles at the forum. The high potential for cooperation is also confirmed by regular meetings between the President of Belarus and representatives of Russian regions. 

HIGH TECHNOLOGY A new resident of the Great Stone Industrial Park is implementing a mechanical engineering project. A Belarusian-capital company plans to develop the production of numerically controlled machine tools at the Park. The process combines cutting-edge machine tool technologies. The investment project will address import substitution issues and provide Belarusian mechanical engineering companies with high-precision, automated, and productive equipment, as well as foster the development of mechanical engineering startups. 

SPORTS WINS Aryna Sabalenka won her first title in the new year. The Belarusian became the best player at the tournament in Brisbane, Australia. In two sets, the world Number One confidently beat Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk. This victory is Sabalenka's 22nd WTA (Women's Tennis Association) tournament trophy. By the way, Arina set a kind of record: she became the first tennis player to reach the finals of the Brisbane tournament three years in a row. The President congratulated Aryna on her victory at the tournament. Belarusian freestyle skier Hanna Huskova took 9th place at the final stage of the FIS Freestyle Aerials World Cup in Lake Placid, USA. She scored 8th in qualifying. The winner was American Kaila Kuhn. In the 2025/26 season, H. Huskova performed three times and took 19th place in the overall standings. The World Cup was a qualifying tournament for the Winter Olympics in Italy.
