HISTORICAL MOMENT | LITHUANIAN TRUCKS | INTERREGIONAL COOPERATION | MINSK-TOKYO DIALOGUE

HISTORICAL MOMENT Aleksandr Lukashenko and Kim Jong Un signed a Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Belarus and the DPRK (Democratic People's Republic of Korea). The ceremony took place as part of the Belarusian leader's official visit to Pyongyang. The fundamental document reflects the new realities in relations between the two countries. During the negotiations with the Leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the Belarusian President announced a fundamentally new stage in relations and explained why some countries would not be enthusiastic about cooperation between Minsk and Pyongyang. 

LITHUANIAN TRUCKS Minsk's decision on Lithuanian and Polish trucks. Carriers are processing documentation to pick the vehicles from guarded parking lots. The situation became possible after the President of Belarus considered the appeal of Lithuanian and Polish carriers and made a decision on the possibility of trucks with Lithuanian registration leaving the territory of Belarus. 

INTERREGIONAL COOPERATION Belarus and China are strengthening relations between their regions. More than 50 provinces and cities in PRC (People's Republic of China) have sister cities with Belarusian Oblasts. Mutual visits are organized annually. The first Belarusian-Chinese Forum of Regions will be held in June. In addition, education and science are important areas of cooperation. Joint projects are being implemented to train and intern specialists, and experience is being exchanged in the teaching environment. More than 12.000 Chinese students are studying in Belarus. 

MINSK-TOKYO DIALOGUE In Minsk, the possibility of resuming cooperation between Belarus and Japan in overcoming the consequences of accidents at nuclear power plants was discussed. The parties expressed their desire to continue cooperation within the framework of the relevant joint committee.
