Belarus is close to the basic principles of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization: sovereignty and non-interference in the affairs of independent states. This was stated by Chairperson of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova at talks with representatives of the Chinese SCO Committee on Good-Neighbourliness, Friendship and Cooperation. The speaker stressed that Belarus wants to continue close cooperation with the organization. Relations between the two countries are developing in all directions. The parties discussed development issues and agreed to strengthen cooperation with China in the fields of education, healthcare and people's diplomacy.

Delegations from Uzbekistan visited Vitebsk Oblast

Promising areas of cooperation were discussed at the meeting between the delegation of the Qashqadaryo Region and the leadership of Vitebsk Oblast. The priority is the implementation of joint investment projects in the field of agriculture. The delegation was introduced to the enterprises of Vitebsk agro-industrial complex. The guests are interested in purchasing meat products, dried and condensed milk, cheeses, and electric charging stations. In turn, we are ready to supply fresh vegetables and fruits to the northern region. Another area that has received special attention is healthcare. The foreign delegation visited the regional clinical specialized centre to learn from the experience of providing medical care by narrow specialists. They also asked about the provision of medical care to rural residents. It is also planned to sign roadmaps for the implementation of agreements on cooperation and joint activities for the period up to 2030 between Vitebsk Oblast and Namangan Region.

Passenger traffic on cross-border suburban railway routes shows steady growth

During the three months of operation of cross-border suburban routes between Smolensk, Vitebsk and Orsha, more than 25.000 passengers used trains. About 15.000 of them – on the Smolensk – Vitebsk route. A peak is expected during the days of the Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk. A direct railway connection between the two cities was launched on 2 April, the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia. This is an important step towards creating a unified transport system between the two countries. Modern, comfortable and safe trains carry about 140 people. The trip between the cities takes 2 hours. Trains run daily. Direct railway routes contribute to the strengthening of tourist and family ties, as well as provide new opportunities for cooperation. The train schedule is convenient for those who want to explore the main attractions and just stroll around the city.

A new tourist facility has been opened in Lelchitsy District

Famous painting by Marc Chagall will be brought to Belarus for the first time

The painting "Over the City" will be exhibited in the Vitebsk Art Museum during the days of the Slavianski Bazaar. The painting will be brought to the festival capital from the Tretyakov Gallery. A separate room has been prepared for the exhibition of the painting in the Art Museum. The work of Yuri Pan, Chagall's teacher, will be displayed in front of her. Belarus extends "land amnesty" until 2028

Belarus has extended the right to privately acquire or lease land plots with discounted rates until 1 January, 2028. This applies to land that was in use as of 1 September, 2022. Belarus launches online application queue for university applications

To make it easier for applicants, Belarus has launched an online application queue for university applications. The service is only available to participants in the 2025-2026 Centralized Examination and Centralized Testing programmes. Applicants must log into their personal account on the Republican Institute for Knowledge Assessment website, find the "Electronic Queue," and select up to three priority options (university, faculty, and specialty). The system will automatically offer a voucher, after which a calendar with available slots will open. Available slots are allocated based on the university's schedule. Applicants then receive an SMS confirmation and a PDF voucher for their visit. Last year alone, 15.000 people used the electronic queuing system. The traditional first-come, first-served format will remain.

Uzbekistan Culture Days kick off in Minsk

IRON FRIENDS Belarus and China are strengthening their friendship which is bound by iron ties. Aleksandr Lukashenko paid a working visit to China, where he met with Xi Jinping. This is the 17th visit by the President of Belarus to China. This year and next are marked by industrial cooperation for Minsk and Beijing. It concerns 11 technologies that China is ready to provide to Belarus. The President of Belarus proposed deepening cooperation between Minsk and Beijing in education. Aleksandr Lukashenko met with the leadership of Peking University. He also took part in the graduation ceremony for graduates of the first joint Belarusian-Chinese educational programme.

BUSINESS FORUM IN JAKARTA Indonesia became the second stop on Aleksandr Lukashenko's foreign trip. The programme included talks with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, both in private and expanded formats. The Belarusian President emphasized that there are no closed topics in cooperation during his meeting with members of the Indonesian government. Contracts worth $76 million dollars were signed at the Belarusian-Indonesian business forum in Jakarta. Our country was represented by a broad delegation with various economic sectors, including logistics, mechanical engineering, food production, education and the insurance sector.

INDEPENDENCE DAY OF BELARUS Belarus is celebrating its main national holiday, Independence Day. For Belarusians, it is a celebration of our country's sovereignty, peace and unity. Around a hundred cultural events are taking place in the capital, including memorial rallies, patriotic flash mobs, exhibitions and concerts.

URUMQI WELCOMES BELARUS Products from Belarusian manufacturers were showcased as part of "Made in Belarus" collective exhibition at China-Eurasia Expo 2026, which took place in Urumqi, People's Republic of China. Participants from over 30 countries and regions brought their exhibits to the Expo. The Belarusian organizers placed special emphasis on the presentation and tasting of national cuisine.
