Orthodox Christians celebrating Theophany Eve today

The Eve of Theophany marks the end of Christmastide and the start of preparations for one of the twelve greatest holidays, Epiphany. In the evening, churches will host the rite of the great blessing of water. Also tonight, priests and parishioners will go to rivers and lakes to dip themselves three times under the water with prayer. Fasting continues until the first star appears in the sky.
