February 21 is International Mother Language Day

Today the whole world celebrates the Mother Language Day. In Belarus, the National Academy of Sciences launched the «Mother Language Week» to coincide with the date. The day before the Belarusian language could be heard in Moscow. An exhibition of the National Historical Museum «Reading Belarusian Classics» opened at the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus. The exposition features rare editions, sketches of stage scenery and costumes for plays based on works by Belarusian writers. This year the Belarusian Language, Literature and Culture Center was opened at the Philological Department of Moscow State University. And some Moscow schools may launch special classes where students will be introduced to Belarusian fairy tales, songs and dances.
