Agriculture in Belarus develops in a new direction. The law «On the production and circulation of organic products» is aimed at its development. Parliamentarians will pass it in autumn. One of the conditions is the refusal to use GMOs and chemical fertilizers. A transition period of at least three years will be required in order clean the soil and modernize the production. Agricultural products will receive an appropriate certificate. In addition, the task to create products with high added value was set. This will open up new opportunities for trade with other countries. In Belarus, so far, there are only 20 farms and 1,500 hectares of certified organic land, which is just 0.03% of 5 million hectares of all farmland.
